A business permit is required for those who want to start their own business or work self-employed.
The business permit demands financial investment, permanent employment of South Africans and a business plan.
A business permit can be applied for if a new company is founded or an already existent company is to be taken over. The requirement for this is that new positions are created. The demand for this is to employ a minimum of 5 South Africans or permanent residence holders within 2 years.
Furthermore, an investment of 2.5 million Rand is necessary. If this amount of money is not available, the company either has to be of national interest or a letter of recommendation by the Ministry of Economy has to be presented.
